Honoring the Lessons and Legacy of the Hyatt Skywalk Collapse

Walterine Griffin

The Hyatt Tragedy

Kansas City

I was about five months pregnant. I had just passed the Hyatt at the time of the skywalk collapse and noticed a large gathering. I passed in front of it and thought about going in but decided that there were too many people inside. I drove from the front of the building to the back side on Gillham and heard on the radio about the skywalk collapse. In just those few moments I realized that God had spared my life and the life of my unborn baby. She is now going on 31, and I am 52 years of age.
